Tomasz Białynicki-Birula

Tomasz Białynicki-Birula is a Polish pianist. He is the prizewinner of the “Pianale” International Competition (Germany, 2023) . Currently he is studying with Pawel Zawadzki and Tomasz Marut at the K. Lipinski Music Academy in Wroclaw. He has obtained his bachelor’s degree at the K. Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, having studied with M. Lisak. He has also studied with Erik T. Tawaststjerna at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki.

His biggest achievements include the participation in the “Pianale” International Piano Academy and Competition in Fulda where he was selected as one of the four finalists-laureates, as well as the 1st prize at the “Opus” International Competition held in Kraków (May 2023). He has performed with the conductor Markus L. Frank and the Jenaer Philharmoniker as the best participant of the 61st Weimar Masterclass during Besten zum Schluss concert in Weimarhalle (2021) as well as with Tapio von Boehm with whom he has given a series of performances in Finland (2021).

Tomasz Białynicki-Birula is an avid masterclass participant. He has honed his skills under the supervision of Garrick Ohlsson, Janina Fialkowska, Matti Raekallio, Noriko Ogawa, Janusz Olejniczak, Gergely Boganyi, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń and Włodzimierz Obidowicz.

As a chamber musician, he has been awarded at two editions of Polish Instrumental and Vocal Chamber Music Competition (3rd Prize in 2021 & 1st Prize and the Special Prize in 2022) as well as the 3rd Prize at the 21st K. Bacewicz International Chamber Music Competition in Lodz (2022). Since 2022 he has been a member of a piano quintet formed of the students of the Wroclaw Music Academy under the supervision of Magdalena Blum and Krzysztof Karpeta.
