Paweł Tomaszewski - Pianist, composer, arranger, producer and academic professor. Dean of Jazz and Pop Music Department in Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, the same Academy where he received master degree in Piano Performance in 2007, and degree in Composition and Arrangements in 2006. In 2013, Pawel obtained Ph.D. with specialization in musical arts.
Grand Prix and individual awards winner on all major jazz competitions in Poland (including Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa, Jazz Juniors, Jazz on Oder Festival). He has performed alongside Polish and international jazz and pop music stars. He performed with solo concerts as well as concerts with symphony orchestras and big bands. In 2015 he was awarded with the Golden Laurel of Skills and Competence in the field of “Culture“.
In his career, Paweł has worked with wide array of artists of various music genres. He has perfor- med together with such stars as: Steve Vai, Nigel Kennedy, Matt Dusk, Maria Schneider, Rick Margitza, Eric Marienthal, Dean Brown, Xantone Blacq, Larry Coryell, Michał Urbaniak, Krzesimir Dębski, Jarosław Śmietana, Urszula Dudziak, Edyta Górniak, Edyta Bartosiewicz, Kasia Kowalska, Natalia Kukulska, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Kuba Badach, Adam Bałdych and many more.
In 2022 he released his album “Coincidence” with his original compositions recorded with Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and guests. He also recorded dozens of CDs with various artists, including his trio – “Tomaszewski Trio - Actual Proof”, and also two joint authorship albums “Myrczek & Tomaszewski – Love Revisited“ and “Marta Król & Paweł Tomaszewski Group - Tribute To The Police”. He has participated in numerous TV, movie and radio recordings as a music producer, arranger, music director, soloist and session musician.
He is a composer of two major pieces: “Symphony of the Galaxies” and “Polish Jazz Symphony“ for symphony orchestra, big-band and soloists.
He is also a founder of the first electronic keyboard classes in Poland at the Academy of Music in Katowice.
He gave lectures at jazz masterclasses around the world.
