Jakub Olejnik – musician, double bass player, bass guitarist, educator, artistic director of the Bass&Beat Festival and Krokus Jazz Festival. A graduate and lecturer at the Department of Jazz Music at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.
For over 20 years he has been co-creating bands, artistic projects, recording and giving concerts. He has performed in Europe and Asia, giving concerts at such festivals as Jazz Nad Odrą, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, Jazzy Colors, Era Jazzu, Jazz Juniors, Cologne Jazz Night, Jazz Bez, Jazz Fest Brno, RCK Pro Jazz, Koskovo Jazz Festival, and Przystanek Woodstock.
Jakub Olejnik is the initiator, organizer and artistic director of the Bass & Beat Festival, an event combining various styles, allowing a perverse look at music from the perspective of the sound of bass and beat as the foundations of contemporary music. The aim of the festival is to create space for art, international networking around creative projects, searching for new forms of expression and promotion of young artists.
Jakub Olejnik is the originator and author of the concept of the international music project #Paderewski Orchestra, combining music and visual arts. In the project based on the themes of Ignacy Jan Paderewski's music, elements of classical music, electronic music, jazz, elements of controlled aleatorism and trends present in contemporary European music intertwine. The project with the participation of artists from Poland, Romania, France and Norway was presented at festivals in Poland and France, meeting with a very good reception from the audience and critics.
Jakub Olejnik combines his passion for music with teaching. He is an assistant professor at the Department of Jazz Music at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. He teaches during courses and workshops in Poland and abroad. He actively participates in conferences and seminars on the European cultural sector and the music industry. Since 2021, he has been the artistic director of the Krokus Jazz Festival, and since 2022 he has been running the International Jazz nad Odrą Foundation.
