Monika Buczkowska-Ward is a versatile soprano known for her performances across Europe, with a repertoire that spans from baroque to contemporary works. Renowned for her strong vocal technique, engaging stage presence, and emotional depth, she has built a reputation for captivating audiences with her expressive performances and rich vocal tone.
Since 2020 she is a member of the Oper Frankfurt ensemble, where she has portrayed a wide variety of roles, including Eudoxie in La Juive, Livia in L’italiana in Londra, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and Lady Durham in Flotow’s Martha. Monika Buczkowska-Ward has appeared on the stages of prominent institutions, including the Staatsoper Hannover, Opéra national du Rhin, and the Polish National Opera as well as Polish Royal Opera in Warsaw, where she has performed key roles in acclaimed works by composers such as Handel, Mozart, Britten, and Puccini.
In the 2024/2025 season, Monika made her very successful debut as Handel’s Alcina, a role that allowed her to showcase her expressive vocal abilities and further deepen her connection to the baroque repertoire. She also had a great success in two leading roles: as Madeleine/Madame de Latour in Le Postillon de Lonjumeau and debut as Oksana in Rimsky-Korsakov's Die Nacht vor Weihnachten.
Monika Buczkowska-Ward’s concert performances have been equally impressive, with notable engagements such as her performances of Bruckner’s Te Deum and Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the hr-Sinfonieorchester and Philharmonie Zuidnederland. She has also been featured in major works such as Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, showcasing her versatility and ability to bring depth to both sacred and dramatic music.
Her vocal artistry has earned her recognition in numerous competitions, including being a finalist at the 10th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition, where she received the Marta Eggerth and Jan Kiepura prize for the most promising Polish singer. She was also awarded distinctions at the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Festival and the International Early Music Vocal Competition "Canticum Gaudium."
A graduate of the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, where she earned a Master’s degree with distinction, she further honed her craft as a participant in the Young Artists Program at the Akademia Operowa of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera.
