Eva Maria Riedl-Buschan

Among the singers on stage, Eva Maria Riedl-Buschan is the star of the show: the young mezzo-soprano shone with her great vocal volume, precise intonation, her warm timbre and amazing stage presence. („Die Presse“, Vienna)

Celebrated as a unique soloist, Eva Maria Riedl has been singing most of the lyric mezzo roles in her career. She sure knows how to captive audiences with her beautiful warm, silky timbre, her distinguished interpretation and her exceptional musicality, which is also praised by conductors and renowned pianists. Directors love her authenticity as she is always thriving for an honest interpretation of a role, and offering outstanding versatility.

Eva Maria Riedl-Buschan has been on stage since high school and completed her training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Helena Lazarska, Charles Spencer and Reto Nickler.

In 2022 she was appointed professor of voice at the prestigious University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

She finished her own studies with distinction and deepened her vocal knowledge in master classes with Prof. Claudia Visca, KS Brigitte Fassbaender, KS Christa Ludwig, Kurt Equiluz and Paul Esswood. She also was awarded the MDW Prize for her exceptional achievements and is a prizewinner in various international competitions.

After completing her diploma, Eva Maria was engaged by renowned KS Brigitte Fassbaender at Landestheater Tirol who became her most important mentor.

As a result of this contract and her work as a soloist at the Vienna Volksoper, covering the Vienna State Opera, she was able to develop a large mezzo-soprano repertoire under professional guidance.

She spent the last few years abroad, where she sang as a freelance artist, touring all over Europe. Apart from that she expanded her repertoire and knowledge with experienced colleagues and teachers from the Italian Belcanto School covering Belcanto, Verismo, French and late romantic repertoire.

In October 2023 she will sing Mahler’s „Lied von der Erde“ at Konzerthaus Vienna.

Her repertoire is quite large in both opera and concert expanding from Baroque to modern music.

She sang f.e. Cherubino, Ramiro, Dorabella, Sextus, 2nd Lady, Orpheus, Sesto, Ruggiero, Hansel, Mercédès, Hermia, Concepcion, Muse/ Niklaus, Flora Bervoix, Fenena, Maddalena, Ines, Sorceress, Suzuki, Man Friday, Dryade, Orlofsky, Smeraldina, Madama Rosa, as well as 2nd Woman in John Caskens „God's Liar“ and Wagner’s Wellgunde.

Her musical partners on the piano include Charles Spencer, Marcin Koziel, Eduard Kutrowatz, Magnus Svensson, Dieter Paier, David Lutz, Matthias Lademann, Gary Matthewman, Elena Larina, Tim Ribchester and Lars Hallgren. She worked with Adam Fischer, Prof. Leopold Hager, Julia Jones, Sir Mark Elder, Axel Kober, Andres Orozco-Estrada, Speranza Scapucci, Guillermo Garcia Calvo, Roberto Paternostro, Alexander Joel, Rubén Dubrovsky, Stefan Gottfried, Josep Caballé-Domenech, Aleksandar Markovic, Henrik Nanási, Andreas Schüller, Gerrit Priessnitz, Sascha Goetzel, Alfred Eschwé, Peter Keuschnig, Manfred Mayrhofer, Mats Liljefors, Mattias Böhm, Stefan Vladar, Florian Krumpöck, Joji Hattori, Guido Mancusi, Noam Zur , Jan Kučera, Prof. Alois Hochstrasser, Lorenz C. Aichner, Jac van Steen, Wolfram-Maria Märtig.

She has sung regularly in concerts and recitals at the Konzerthaus Vienna, and at the Vienna Musikverein, the Stefaniensaal in Graz, the Congress in Innsbruck, the „Rudolfinum“ Prague, Berlin Philharmonic, Liszt Festival Raiding, Festival Brezice, Esterházy castle, Svenska Akademien, Vasamuseet as well as in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Slovenia, Poland, Turkey, and Israel.
